The Tiruchi men's hockey team which won the regional-level round of Chief Minister’s Trophy Hockey Tournament on Monday.

Tiruchi men and Nagapattinam women emerged victorious in the regional-level round of the Chief Minister’s Trophy hockey tournament here on Monday.

The three-day tournament was organised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Tiruchi, at Anna Stadium. In the men’s section, Tiruchi, Dindigul, Ariyalur and Thanjavur advanced to the league stage at the end of the knockout phase. In the women’s category, Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Dindigul, and Nagapattinam qualified for the league stage at the end of the knockout phase.

Tiruchi men won all their matches in the league and clinched the top spot. Ariyalur (two wins and a loss), and Dindigul (one win and two losses) finished second and third respectively.

Nagapattinam women, with two wins and a draw, bagged the top spot. Thanjavur (two wins and a loss) and Tiruchi (a win, a draw, and a loss) finished second and third respectively.

S. Tamilselvan, Regional Senior Manager, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Tiruchi, gave away the prizes in the presence of P. Kalaiselvan, District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer, P. Khader Mohideen, president, Unified Tiruchi District Hockey, and K. Rajarajan, secretary.
