VC constitutes committee for green initiative

Vice-Chancellor V.M. Muthukumar has constituted a three-member committee to implement green campus initiative at the Bharathidasan University’s main campus.

A. Lakshmi Prabha, M. Vasanthy, and N.D. Srinithivihashini, faculty members of the university, have figured in the committee. Six locations have been identified for saplings on the main campus.

Mr. Muthukumar launched the project by planting a tree sapling on Monday.

M.B. Viswanathan, Professor and Head, Department of Plant Science; L. Ganesan, NSS Coordinator; and P. Masilamani, NSS Programme Officer, participated.

A total of 1,500 assorted saplings of acacia, neem, peepal, ficus, coral jasmine, jackfruit, and cassia trees were planted. As many as 150 NSS volunteers of Jamal Mohamed College, Tiruchi, planted saplings.
