A special meeting organised by the district administration recently discussed on differently-abled welfare.
The meeting presided over by District Collector T.P. Rajesh sought to ascertain the interventions towards livelihood support for the differently-abled persons in the district. Mr. Rajesh called for organising special employment camp for differently-abled here in the district.
Further, a follow-up on institutional interventions for the mentally challenged was sought. According to the Collector, the progress of those admitted to institutions for mental intervention, should be followed up with and they be rejoined with their families. Further, the department was asked to organise camps for differently-abled people in inaccessible hilly terrains of the district.
Registration
Also, the administration has asked welfare organisations to be registered as mandated by Section 52 of Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995. Further, action will be initiated against organisations not registered by March 31,2015.
