A three-member team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) visited the Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here on Monday to consider allowing admission of fifth batch of 100 students during 2015-16.

The team members, Dr. B.K. Das from Assam, Dr. P. Parasakthi from Tamil Nadu and S. Shivaji from Maharashtra along with RIMS Director B. Anjaiah made a thorough evaluation of the facilities upgraded at the RIMS as per the MCI guidelines. The MCI, during the earlier visit, had pointed out 13 deficiencies for rectification. “We have set right all the deficiencies and confident of getting the MCI nod,” said Dr Anjaiah soon after inspection.

The RIMS secured the MCI nod only at the nick of time last year after intervention by then Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan.
