Chandrapur: Four persons including three farmers were killed as a speeding truck rammed into a stationary trailer truck on Nagpur road near Nandori toll both in Warora during wee hours of Monday. The victims hail from Chinnur in Telangana and were carrying truckloads of red chilies to Nagpur for sale.
According to reports, the farmers identified as Suresh Bora (30), Pawan Kaweri (22) and Ganesh Jadi (20) hired a truck for transporting chilies to Nagpur.
They started from Chinnur on Sunday and reached Nandori toll booth on Nagpur road during the wee hours of Monday.
A huge trailer filled with iron rods crossed the toll booth ahead of their truck. Its driver took the trailer truck few hundred meters ahead and stopped at the road side to answer nature’s call. The trailer driver had just walked aside the road, when the chilies-loaded truck came at breakneck speed and rammed into the rear of the stationery trailer.
The impact was so severe that the truck’s driver-cabin turned into crumpled heap of metal and the three farmers and the truck driver Mahesh Jayarap were killed instantly. The employees of the toll booth rushed to the rescue of the victims, but all four of them had died on the spot.
Warora police reached the spot on getting information and removed the bodies of the victims to Warora subdistrict hospital for post-mortem. Traffic on the road was hampered for some time following the accident, but cops immediately moved the mangled truck aside and cleared the traffic.
