Prefects of Adi Cakobau School in Sawani had been reminded to take ownership of their roles as leaders.

The prefects underwent a day-long seminar at the school last Saturday. It was facilitated by five former students of the school.

ACS principal Laisa Soko said the seminar was to enlighten the prefects about their roles as leaders of the school.

The seminar is in line with the school’s theme for this year, ‘Achieving Excellence through the Pursuit of Wisdom.’

“We are looking at the challenges and approaches to their leadership. What we are doing now is to identify different scenarios they might encounter during their roles as prefects and what they are going to do about it,” Ms Soko said.

“We will look at the best practices and the resolutions that they will work on as prefects because they need to take ownership of their roles as prefects.

“They will decide. We are not dictating to them what they will need to do because when they decide, they take ownership of their roles as prefects and that is what we want them to do for the rest of the year. We’ll help them in their roles as prefects.”

Sixty-eight of the 74 school prefects attended the seminar.
