No stranger to controversy, AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi took a jibe at the RSS on Monday afternoon calling it a “bachelors’ club’’ which has no right to tell Hindu women to produce more children.
“Those who are not married should not talk about producing babies or give advice to women. What do they know of family responsibilities? First get married and then give your advice,’’ Owaisi said while speaking at a function to mark the 57th formation day of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) at the party headquarters Dar-us-salaam.

“The RSS is a club of bachelors, RSS pracharaks never marry and are never ready to take any responsibilities in life that come with getting married. When they have never faced any problems related to family, wife or children who are they to give advice to Hindus to produce more children? Can they guarantee enough resources to educate the children or give them jobs?,” asked Owaisi, an MLA from Chandrayangutta and AIMIM floor leader in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. Owaisi, 44, was referring to the remarks made by BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj but he did not take any names.
While attacking the RSS, he asked Muslims to stay united to defeat “communal politics”. “We must stay united to fight for our rights and to defeat communal politics. AIMIM will fight for your rights, but if we do not stay united, we face the threat of losing our Muslim identity,’’ he said.
Younger brother of Hyderabad MP and party chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Akbaruddin also told the audience that the AIMIM was ready to venture into Bihar, West Bengal and Karnataka politics and would eye Muslims, Dalits and Other Backward Classes in these states. “Our party will work for the upliftment and social and economic upliftment of the minorities,’’ he said.
Known for his controversial and fiery speeches, Akbaruddin made a similar statement against the RSS last Friday at a public meeting at Malegaon where he wondered if Rahul Gandhi should get married before his elevation as Congress president, and attempt at becoming the Prime Minister.
The Owaisi brothers have been taking on the RSS and other right-wing elements for launching programmes like “ghar wapsi”. Countering “ghar wapsi” and religious conversions issue, Asaduddin Owaisi had opined that everyone was born a Muslim and then converted to other religions. “Ghar wapsi is for these people to return to Islam,’’ Owaisi claimed.
