Gang busted in Pune for planning dacoity

The crime branch busted a five-member gang from Rajasthan which had planned to rob a petrol pump on the Ahmednagar highway on February 28.

PUNE: The crime branch busted a five-member gang from Rajasthan which had planned to rob a petrol pump on the Ahmednagar highway on February 28. The accused have been identified as Khartaram Gondara (22), Devendra Gora (20), Dhanaram Chaudhary (27), Jashraj Beniwal (20), Kisanram Chaudhary (22) and Laxmanram Chaudhary alias Gondara (32). The gang members were arrested at the petrol pump following a tip off received by police naik Ajay Kharade.
Two police teams led by senior inspector Sunil Yadav (unit V), assistant inspector Mahadeo Waghmode, sub-inspector Dattatraya Darade laid a trap and took the suspects into custody near the petrol pump. The suspects, who had come armed in a car, could not escape as the cops had surrounded them. Police have seized the car, rambo knife, cell phone, rope, two hockey sticks among other things. A case was registered against the suspects with the Chandanagar police station under sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and the Bombay Police Act.
