He walked in with style, making sure he flaunted a different hairstyle and teamed his black shirt with black studs and boots. Actor Ankit Gera, who has always been the sweet, positive guy in all his telly avatars so far, was in Ahmedabad recently to promote the show Maharakshak Devi.
The first show where he will be seen in a negative character, Ankit made sure he did it in style as he says, “I play a modern day Bhasmasur and a rockstar. It is an amazing combination and I am super excited.”

Ankit says, “I have always played a responsible guy — be it Mahi Way, Pratigya or Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. We have mostly seen shows with a hero-heroine concept. This is a show where there is a heroine and a villain. It is very challenging, because I am doing something and then there are a lot of special effects added, so even I am amazed to see the final product. I was also very confused initially, but I see to it that my look is correct and give creative inputs when I think it’ll help.”
Going for a total image makeover here, Ankit says, “My image of seven years of doing positive characters might get spoiled with this negative role. But as actors, we have to take certain risks. I feel negative characters always stay in the minds of people even after a show is over.”

Ankit, who is also fond of music, says, “I have been playing the guitar for three years and I also like to sing. This experience helped a lot while shooting for this show. I do my own grooming so even that helped. I believe an actor should keep adding skills which will account at some point in the career. I used to do stunts with cars and bikes as a youngster and it helped in
SSLK.”
Ankit, who had been in relationships with (He dated Roopal Tyagi while he was working in SSLK and later Adaa Khan), says, “As celebrities, whether you do something good or bad, people would always want to know what is happening in your life. Things will be written, but to know when to react and when not to react is important. It is like a key that you should press when needed.”
Talking about the blurring lines between films and television and his aspirations, Ankit says, “Right now, I only want to focus on this show. I would never put it at stake for anything else.” On a parting note, he says, “This is the first time I have come to Ahmedabad and I hope to experience the city and enjoy the food. The minute I stepped into the hotel room, I saw a packet of khakhras lying on the table and had some, they were yummy!”
