Diamondbacks' Curt Schilling delivers a pitch to St. Louis Cardinals' Fernando Vina, during the first inning of game 2 of their National League Divisional Series 03 October, 2002 in Phoenix.

Former Diamondbacks pitcher Curt Schilling is a man of many opinions, and as a result, not everyone is fond of him.

He knows and accepts that, but when Twitter trolls went after his daughter, Schilling couldn't sit back and let that line remain crossed.

On Wednesday, Schilling congratulated his daughter, Gabby, on her commitment to play softball at Salve Regina University. It was a typical tweet from a proud parent, except not every parent has 102,000 followers.

From the spambots to the trolls, it's hard to imagine how terrible the Twitter experience must be for an athlete or celebrity. But just because Schilling has a six-figure follow count, doesn't mean that he wasn't reading.

Schilling called out Twitter trolls in a long blog post after many made sexually inappropriate and even threatening remarks directed at his teenage daughter. Schilling entitled the post, "The world we live in…Man has it changed. ADDENDUM!" He noted that he's been in clubhouses and knows that guys say dumb things, but he would never stand for someone threatening his daughter (or any other woman).

He took screenshots of tweets (NSFW language) that threatened his daughter and individually called out the users who sent them:

"The Sports Guru"? Ya he's a DJ named Adam Nagel (DJ is a bit strong since he's on the air for 1 hour a week) on Brookdale Student Radio at Brookdale Community College. How do you think that place feels about this stud representing their school? You don't think this isn't going to be a nice compilation that will show up every single time this idiot is googled the rest of his life? What happens when a potential woman he's after googles and reads this?

The other clown? He's VP of the Theta Xi fraternity at Montclair State University. I gotta believe if Theta Xi is cool with a VP of one of their chapters acting like this I'd prefer to have no one I know in it. Also, does anyone attending Montclair State University have a student handbook? If so can you pass it along because I am pretty sure there are about 90 violations in this idiots tweets.

I stopped because the rest was more of the same. And while these, to me as a dad, are just stupid and vile in ways you can't fathom, they aren't alone.

The accounts that Schilling called out have been deleted.

It's hard to not sympathize with Schilling. Whether or not someone is a fan of his politics, beliefs or teams, Schilling doesn't deserve to receive threats against his daughter.

There's the old saying, "Don't feed the troll." In his blog, Schilling didn't feed the troll. He defeated them.
