Aiming the budget smartphone market, Microsoft has introduced two new Lumia Windows smartphones- Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Lumia 640XL is one of the largest phones you will ever use and despite that it is not a 6-inch device. The 5.7-inch screen could offer good value for mid segment users who want extra real estate.
The phone also features the Lumia camera app and will come in five traditional Lumia colours and also comes with matte finish.The smaller Lumia 640 offers a 5-inch screen. The phone will in all probability have a budget friendly price in India too.
Both the new Lumia smartphones offer one-year free subscription to Microsoft Office 365. Featuring a 5-inch 720p HD display, the Lumia 640 comes with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 1MP front camera. It runs on a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU with 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB. Microsoft is also offering 30GB of free OneDrive storage. The Lumia 640 is powered by a 2500 mAh battery.
The bigger Lumia 640 XL sports a 5.7-inch HD IPS ClearBlack display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and mounts a 13MP rear camera powered by Zeiss f/2.0 lens and a 5MP selfie camera. It runs on a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU with 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB and Adreno 305 GPU. Both the devices runs on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.
