Burglars struck at the rented accommodation of a judicial magistrate in Model Gram area on Saturday and decamped with cash and a laptop when the judge was out of station with his family.

LUDHIANA: Burglars struck at the rented accommodation of a judicial magistrate in Model Gram area on Saturday and decamped with cash and a laptop when the judge was out of station with his family.
The incident came to light after constable Mohinder Singh attached with the judge went to his house and found the locks of the main entrance broken. After the judge came to know about the incident, he returned from his native village in Mansa to check his belongings.
Cops from Kochar market police post under division number 5 police station started investigation into the burglary. Police said thieves have stolen Rs 5,000 and a laptop from the rented house of the judge.
Division number five police has registered a case against unidentified burglars under Section 457 %(lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (Theft in dwelling house, etc) of the IPC.
Malkit Singh, investigating officer, said as the judge was recently transferred to Hoshiarpur, he had shifted all his household articles to new place of posting.
SHO Beant Juneja said burglars stole Rs 5000 and a laptop. He added that the rented accommodation in which the junior division judge used to live belongs to an advocate who lives in Chandigarh.
"We are looking for CCTV footage of cameras installed in adjoining houses for possible leads in the case", added the SHO.
