Child falls out of car during theft getaway

A man and a woman from West Yarmouth were arrested Sunday night on charges of stealing a $700 television from a Walmart and briefly losing a child during their getaway.

Falmouth police Lieutenant Sean Doyle said Lisa Degerolamo and Daniel McLaughlin, both 29, were driving away from the parking lot after the theft when a 5-year-old boy fell from a door that was ajar due to the size of the television.

Bystanders attempted to intervene, but Degerolamo returned for the child and still managed to flee, police said.

Degerolamo and McLaughlin face charges of reckless endangerment of a child and larceny over $250. Degerolamo faces additional charges of driving a child without a car seat, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
