Stating that action should be taken against the private school in Yercaud for failing to protect the life of a 13-year-old boy who died on the school premises on Saturday, parents and relatives refused to receive the body and staged a protest inside Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital here on Sunday.

V. Nallendran, native of Samayapuram in Tiruchi district, was pursuing his Class 7 at a private school in Yercaud. On Saturday, it was said that while he tried to climb a kitchen roof near the school building, he fell down resulting in injuries and died on the way to the hospital.

Yercaud police registered a case and the body was sent to the Salem GH on Saturday.

Autopsy was performed on Sunday.

But his parents Venkat, Kavitha and relatives refused to receive the body and staged a protest.

However, police personnel pacified them and assured of action against the school officials, if found guilty.

Later they received the body and left.
