GURGAON: A group of nearly 200 teachers staged a protest at Kamla Nehru Park on Sunday morning before submitting a memorandum to the office of divisional commissioner demanding confirmation of teachers who were shortlisted in August last year.
"The previous government had constituted the Haryana Teachers Selection Board which shortlisted 9,870 JBT (junior basic training) teachers on August 14, 2014.
But the new government disbanded the board and put all the recruitments on hold. We demand that at least teachers who have been shortlisted be confirmed before the commencement of new academic session in April," said Rajendra Sharma, president of te Patra Adhyapak Sangh (Qualified teachers Association) of Haryana. The teachers threatened to kickstart a stir next month in case their demands are not met.
