This Saturday, tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain presented the 31st Prithvi Memorial Concert, in memory of the late Jennifer Kapoor, wife of Shashi Kapoor, at Prithvi Theatre in Juhu.
Along with Shashiji, other family members like Neila Devi (wife of Shammi Kapoor), Kunal Kapoor and his children Shaira and Zahan were present.
This year’s concert, titled ‘Rukhsat’ was a combination of acoustic Indian classical, fusion music and dance performances.
Ustad Zakir Hussain, who curated the show, was accompanied by musicians Ranjit Barot (drums), Niladri Kumar (sitar) and Kathak danseuse Antonia Minnecola among other artistes.
Among those who’d come to the concert were Ramesh Sippy, Rohan Sippy, Kay Kay Menon and wife Nivedita Bhattacharya, Nagesh Kukunoor, Govind Nihalani, Juhi Babbar, Anup Soni, Taufiq Qureshi and Suchitra Pillai. Theatre personalities Nadira Babbar, Ila Arun and Makrand Deshpande inaugurated the show by lighting the traditional diya.
