Navdeep Singh officiating DGP, Bhardwaj given farewell

The state government on Saturday appointed Navdeep Singh, special director general, law and order as officiating DGP in place of Omendra Bhardwaj who retired during the day.

JAIPUR: The state government on Saturday appointed Navdeep Singh, special director general, law and order as officiating DGP in place of Omendra Bhardwaj who retired during the day.
Outgoing DGP Omendra Bhardwaj was given a traditional farewell which included a ceremonial parade attended by seven battalions including Rajasthan Armed Constabulary, Hadi Rani battalion, Jaipur police commissionerate and others.
The central police band also played some touching tunes. As is the custom, a rope tied to the car of the DGP was pulled by senior IPS officers of DG & ADG ranks.
Those who gathered for the farewell included director general, ACB, Manoj Bhatt, and additional director general Jaswant Sampatram.
Addressing his men, Bhardwaj said, "Working in police force is a challenging job and I am proud to admit that I have managed to overcome the difficulties that created hindrance in my path. I believe police is a social organization in which our prime duty is to serve the common man," he said.
Officiating DGP Navdeep Singh thanked Bhardwaj for his positive thinking and said, "Your positive leadership guided us to serve better. I will give my best wishes to him and his family."
Meanwhile, throughout the day there were speculations that Manoj Bhatt, DG, ACB may be elevated as the DGP.
