Omar Abdullah congratulates new J&K govt with pinch of criticism

Srinagar: Minutes after Mufti Mohammad Sayeed took oath as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, former CM of the state Omar Abdullah on Sunday congratulated the newly-formed PDP-BJP government, but not without sarcasm.

Omar, who took to Twitter, first wished Sayeed on assuming the office of CM and then to the newly-appointed Cabinet ministers.

However, he later criticised the BJP ministers for swearing allegiance to the same constitution of J&K that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee died trying to get rid of.

He further criticised the new government for not including Kargil representative in the Cabinet.

“Ladakh gets one minister and Srinagar gets three ministers, but Kargil doesn't get any. There will be considerable heartburn in Kargil at this development,” he wrote.

While taking potshots at PDP MLA Ashraf Mir and minister in new government, Omar said, “Ashraf was the same person who fired an AK 47 to celebrate when he defeated me. What the hell will he fire today to celebrate becoming minister.”
