AICC general secretary Ajay Maken, formerly the Congress’s campaign committee chairperson, is likely to be announced as the new state Congress chief.
Sources in the party said the decision was taken as a part of the party’s rebuilding process in Delhi. The official announcement is likely to made on Sunday, sources said.
“This is a part of the party’s larger rebuilding initiative. The party felt that having someone of Maken’s calibre and seniority would be instrumental in launching a successful offensive against the AAP government and the BJP government,” a senior leader said.

Previously, Arvinder Singh Lovely held the post. Though no fingers were pointed at Lovely, some in the party claimed that the decision to replace him was because of his failure to restructure the unit.
