Actress Jennifer Lawrence insists everything is joyous on the the set of “Joy,” despite reports of a loud argument between the Oscar winner and director David O. Russell. (The movie, about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, is currently filming in Boston.) Citing a source on the set, TMZ reported that the director performed one of his trademark tantrums for Lawrence and also producer Harvey Weinstein. Russell allegedly hollered at Lawrence Tuesday and then gave the boot to Weinstein when he made an unscheduled visit to the set Wednesday. Not true, says Lawrence, who addressed the issue on Facebook. “It’s Jen! I know I don’t go on here a lot because I can barely work email but there’s been a terrible rumor going around the last 24 hours so I wanted to clear it up,” she wrote. “David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I’m having a blast making it!” The studio previously told TMZ that Russell was merely coaching Lawrence into a camera-ready frenzy. (The Oscar-nominated director does have something of a temper. There’s an epic and infamous YouTube video of an argument he had with actress Lily Tomlin on the set of “I Heart Huckabees” in 2004.) Interestingly, and perhaps not coincidentally, “Joy” executive producer George Parra was scheduled to speak at the winter meeting of the Massachusetts Production Coalition Wednesday night, but bailed at the last minute.
