Convention on light music begins today

Parishat have jointly organized the twelfth State-level convention on light music here on February 28 and March 1.

Chamarajanagar is witnessing such a mega music programme for the first time, in which popular artistes in folksong, Vachana recitation, light music, group songs, film songs and other varieties of music are expected to participate.

The folk artistes would be taken in a procession on February 28 at 9 a.m. T.N. Seetharam, director of television serials and films, will flag off the procession. The programmes would be held at J.H. Patel auditorium and in front of the Chamrajeshwaraswamy temple. Playback singer Kasturi Shankar will chair the convention. Recipient of Jnanpith award Chandrashekara Kambara will inaugurate the programme. Subbaraya Chokkadi would be conferred with ‘Kavyasri’ award and M.K. Jayashri with ‘Bhavashri’ award on the occasion. An anthology of poems titled ‘Ninne Neneda Jeevana’, written by Director of Kannada and Culture Department K.A. Dayanand will be released. Chamarajanagar MP R. Druvanarayan will release a compact disc titled ‘Geetha Sangama’.
