The Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami temple received a donation from one of its devotees on Wednesday.

Alvin Raj, director of Choice Resources Fiji donated a full set of sound system worth around $15,000 to the temple.

“This gives more efficient delivery of mantras which now can be heard by all the devotees. This gives a better picture of delivering other messages to the devotees, and has built up an asset list for the amount it holds for its costs.

Temple committee president Gandhi Mestry said: “This is a very generous donation and it is very kind of the person who turned up and did the contribution towards the temple.

“We pray to Lord Murgan for all the blessings to him and to his entire family and friends.”

The businessman of Lautoka said: “It was his intention to donate to the temple as it is for a religious purpose.”

The full set includes two JBL speakers, a 16 channel Yahama powered mixer, 4 mic stands, six Shure brand mics, one cordless mic and four sets of cables.

“I normally give cash donations to temples but this time I gave this as I realised that they lacked it.

“I feel really proud by giving this, and I look forward that others will also donate to the temple for a worthy cause. Next year I am planning to give something else to the temple that they will benefit from, especially the people.”

Mr Raj has also made donations to other organisations and churches as well since 2010 when he started his business.

Every two months, Mr Raj spends time overseas looking into his products for better quality and service providers.

The temple committee is now looking forward to the new hall and foundation works should start by the middle of this year.

Mr Mestry has confirmed that tenders have been called, and work will begin soon.
