Banks, housing-related shares drive Nikkei higher

TOKYO -- Domestic-demand-driven shares like banks and housing-related issues are stepping to the fore to push the Japanese stock market upward.

     In February, the Nikkei Stock Average rose at the fastest pace since last November, when the Bank of Japan's surprise decision to implement additional quantitative easing set off a stock rally.
