Francisco Nunes signed a deal with Ambev SA last year that got him new furniture and equipment for his shabby bar in a Rio de Janeiro slum. What Nunes, 58, said he didn’t get was enough Budweiser to keep his shelves stocked.
“There have been so many times that I’ve had to go and buy the beer myself at the store or else I’d have nothing to offer,” he said at his bar, shirtless in the heat of a Brazil summer day.
