Sircreek, Siachen offshoots of Kashmir dispute
Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) Friday appreciated and praised the statement of Pakistan Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam in which she said that the Kashmir dispute will be priority of the expected Indo-Pak Foreign Secretary level talks.
In a statement Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said, The basic reason behind the prevailing tension between India and Pakistan is the Kashmir issue and until this dispute is not resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of its people, the peace, stability and development will elude the South Asian region.
Due to the international pressure India has although agreed to hold foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan but there has been no visible change so far in their policies regarding the Kashmir issue. They have shut their eyes over the realities and live facts with regarding to the Kashmir, he said.
Sircreek, Siachen and all other issues are the off-shoots of the Kashmir dispute and until both the countries will not address the real issue, no dialogue process will prove result oriented. Hundreds of times have both the countries held hundreds of rounds of talks with each other but neither Sircreek nor Siachen was solved and nor was any progress made in the resolution of the Kashmir issue. During this period both the countries fought three full scale wars and every passing day comes with a new kind of clashes and tension between both the countries, he added.
The Hurriyat (G) appealed the leadership of both the countries to come out of the traditional ways of holding dialogues and adopt a realistic approach with regarding the Kashmir issue and accept the Reality of Kashmir in its real senses.
The world is approaching towards the more freedom and more democracy and now there is no room left for suppressing the right to self determination of any nation. The recently held referendum in East Timor, South Sudan and Scotland has proven that the voices of the people are heard everywhere now. In these changing conditions, the aspirations and the inner of the people of Kashmir can neither be ignored and nor can it be changed with the help of power and military might, Akbar said.
