Communist Party of India (Marxist) Legislature Party deputy leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan gave evidence before the Solar Judicial Commission here on Thursday.
Emerging from the commission’s in-camera hearing, Mr. Balakrishnan told reporters that he submitted before the panel voice recordings of the Chief Minister’s telephonic conversation with persons involved in the scam.
He had urged the commission to summon the report of Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Vinson M. Paul on the solar scam and the police personnel of the Thalassery police station, who had investigated complaints against Saritha S. Nair, the prime accused in the scam. He also told the commission that there was no reason to disbelieve Government Chief Whip P.C. George’s claim that the scam involved Rs.10,000 crore, Mr. Balakrishnan said.
Although CPI Legislature Party deputy leader C. Divakaran was supposed to give evidence before the commission on Thursday, he could not do so as he was in Kottayam to attend the CPI State conference. He sought the commission’s permission to appear on another day.
Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan would give evidence before the commission on Friday.
