The Communist Party of India State secretary, Pannian Ravindran, has recalled the rich socio-political contributions of M. Sukumara Pillai, veteran trade union leader and former party State secretariat member, who passed away a year ago.

Mr Ravindran was inaugurating the M. Sukumara Pillai commemoration meet held as part of the first death anniversary of the veteran Communist leader at Puthenpeedika, near here, on Thursday. He said Mr Pillai was a staunch Communist and a great orator with exceptional commanding power.

Mr Pillai’s long stint as the general secretary of the Kerala Electricity Workers’ Federation (KEWF) had helped the workers attached to the Kerala State Electricity Board to get due respect and recognition from the management, Mr Ravindran said.
