2 minors raped in Arunachal
Itanagar: Two minor girls were allegedly raped at gunpoint at Seppa, the headquarters of East Kameng district, on Wednesday morning. The rapists also tried to murder the duo.
According to Seppa Police Station OC J Netan, the two girls, aged 12 and 13, had reportedly gone to a local vehicle counter to see off their sister at around 3.30am. When they were returning home, the accused trailed them and allegedly tried to force them inside a car.
The girls managed to fend off their attackers and escaped to the Bazaar Line area. Unfortunately, they were unable to get very far and were intercepted by the two men, one of whom was allegedly holding a firearm.
The girls were then taken to a secluded spot at Hari Tungne-Watti Road where they were raped.
The victims were students of classes V and VI, the OC said.
The accused were identified as Achung Bagang and Yangno Liyak.
Parents of the two girls and relatives began a search for the accused and managed to get hold of Bagang who was roughed up and taken to the police station where he is in custody now.
The car of the accused was also torched.
