NAGPUR: With a view to promote healthy lifestyle, Rotary Club of Nagpur has organized a walkathon ‘Walk for life’, on March 1 from CP Club Jogger’s Park.
The walkathon has been divided into three categories, 9km, 6km and 3km race, which will commence at 6:30am, 6:45 and 7am, respectively. The Jogger’s Park will be the starting and end point of the race.
This will be the 11th year of this event.
Walkathon organizing committee chairman Sunil Bhatia says, ““When this race was first held in 2004, hardly 1000 people had turned up.” About the race organized last year, he said, “It was a spectacular sight to see more than 6,000 people walking together wearing the same T-shirts and caps.”
“Since India has the largest number of diabetic and heart patients, bringing a lifestyle change is the only option. I always encourage my patients to lead a physically active lifestyle where walking becomes the primary exercise,” said Dr Jaspal Arneja from Arneja Hospital, who is also a member of the organizing committee.
Apart from on-spot registrations, various schools, Axis Bank branches and Ajmera Tyres outlet will also provide entry forms. Contact on 9545551835 for any further details.
