GURGAON: A 20-year-old student, who had been missing for four days, was found dead in a canal near Dhankot village in Rajindra Park on Wednesday.
According to police, Deepanshu had been living with his paternal aunt in Badshapur. He was last seen on February 22, when he left home in the morning to take the Central Teacher Eligibility Test in Sector 31.
When he did not return till the evening, perplexed relatives went to the examination centre and were told he had appeared for the exam. They then went searching for him in possible hangouts, but could not locate him. Deepanshu’s aunt, meanwhile, informed his parents, who arrived from Palwal immediately. They lodged a missing persons’ complaint with Sector 40 police on the same day.
On Wednesday, members of Deepanshu’s family were called to identify a body that Rajindra Park police had found in the canal near Dhankot village. The father and uncle of the deceased identified him. The body was sent for postmortem on Thursday todetermine if the cause of death was drowning or murder. A panel of medical experts has sent the viscera for forensic examination. The body was later handed over to family.
“It is not clear as to what exactly caused his death. We’re waiting for the viscera reports. We’re probing all details to find out who all he had met before he was seen last,” additional SHO at Rajindra Park police station, Sakender Singh, said.
