Footage from the only CCTV camera in the area where social activist Govind Pansare was shot dead in Kolhapur earlier this month has proven useless in police investigations, as it has captured neither the faces of the perpetrators clearly nor the actual shooting, investigators said.

“The only CCTV camera found after the incident is one mounted on the school building. The building is around 15 to 20 metres from the school gates, which Pansares passed. All the footage shows is the couple walking by, and two men on bike following them two seconds later,” said an officer who is part of the investigation.
Rs 25 lakh reward for info on culprits
As investigators have failed to make any breakthrough in the murder of veteran Communist leader Govind Pansare (84) in Kolhapur, the state government has now announced a reward of Rs 25 lakh for any person giving information about the culprits.
