45 cases of H1N1 reported in Tumakuru since January 2015

Since January, 45 cases of H1N1 have been reported in Tumakuru as on February 25. Also, one person has died due to H1N1.

District Health Officer, Dr.Shashikala.N told The Hindu that, “888 patients suffering from fever were screened and throat swab of 133 people were sent to the laboratory out of which 45 people have been tested positive.”

She said 30 patients suffering from H1N1 have recovered and have been discharged from the hospitals but they are under the observation of the health department.

She said 12 patients who are in private and government hospitals in Tumakuru and Bengaluru are recovering.

Out of ten taluks in the district, Tumakuru has the highest number of H1N1 cases, with 27 cases.

She cited the high number of H1N1 cases in Tumakuru due to the floating population, as people of Tumakuru go to Bengaluru for work, business and education.
