ALWAR: A day after exposing a nexus between some schools, touts and a few candidates who fought the panchayat elections, the police in Dausa arrested two persons and detained 12 others for allegedly providing fake marksheets.
So far, the police raided over 200 places, including schools in Agra, Delhi, Jaipur, Kanota, Phalodi, Sumel, Biwai apart from various places in Dausa.
The two persons were arrested on charges of issuing fake marksheets and transfer certificates (TCs) which were allegedly used by the candidates who contested the recently held panchayat elections.
"At least 200 candidates are on our radar, including 27 who have contested and won the elections," said Anshuman Bhomia, superintendent of police, Dausa, while talking to TOI on Wednesday.
The police have written to the education department to know whether the schools which are under scanner have got recognition and registration. "We have specifically asked the authorities when these schools were opened or if they were shut down while they have provided forged marksheets to the candidates," said Bhomia.
The state government in January had introduced an ordinance to amend the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Act and fix educational qualifications for candidates. The ordinance required candidates contesting zila parishad and panchayat samiti polls to have passed Class X and those contesting sarpanch elections to have passed Class VIII.
