JAIPUR: The Jaipur Development Authority will convert the Gopalpura Bypass - Gujjar Ki Thadi road into a six-lane road to ease congestion of traffic.
In a public works committee (PWC) meeting held on Wednesday, the JDA also approved clover leaf design for the proposed ring road.
For the widening of existing two-lane road from Gopalpura Bypass to Gujjar Ki Thadi, the JDA will spend Rs 95 crore and remove earmarked green belt area (GBA) on the road.
A slip lane and GBA will be incorporated in the widening while encroachments that have come up on the road will be demolished.
"There is an urgent need for swift traffic movement in that area. It is a major road linking south Jaipur to the rest of the parts of the city. The project is being sanction today and soon tenders will be released. We will try to complete the work at the earliest," said a JDA official.
Five years ago, the JDA developed a green area alongside the road, spending Rs 5 crore. However, most of it has now been encroached by hotels, restaurants and coaching institutions and is being used as parking.
Among other major decisions taken at the meeting was recommending clover leaf design for the ring road. Apart from that, 28 underpasses for vehicles and pedestrians and 14 additional underpass exclusively for the pedestrians in the 47-km long ring road have been sanctioned.

Approval were also given for a museum at Amar Jawan Jyoti incurring Rs 6.87 cr and financial and administration sanction of Rs 3.87 cr for tennis court at Mansarovar and renovation of courts at OTS and Chitrakoot stadium.

2. Rs 14.45 cr for development work at Kedar Vihar in Kodar village
3. Rs 2.73 cr for additional development work at Bagru greens project.
