Despite lower oil prices and a weaker Canadian dollar, local businesses say they’re feeling optimistic about what 2015 will bring.

According to a survey conducted by the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, 76 per cent of responding businesses say they have reason for optimism this year.

Ian McLean, president of the organization, said in a press release that the survey signifies the resilience and diversity of Waterloo Region’s economy.

Other findings in the survey included that 66 per cent of responding businesses reported moderate or strong business growth in 2014, while 61 per cent said their biggest challenge is attracting more customers.

The survey was conducted after the Bank of Canada lowered its key interest rate.
