February 21, 2015 01:51 am | Updated April 02, 2016 06:16 am IST - HYDERABAD:

About 1.80 lakh students from Telangana and another 70,000 from Andhra Pradesh are expected to appear for the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) to be conducted by the Telangana Government. However, A.P. students will have to write the examination in Hyderabad only.

JNTU in-charge Vice-Chancellor, Sailaja Ramaiyer, TSCHE Chairman, Papi Reddy and EAMCET-2015 Convenor, N.V. Ramana Rao told reporters that they would consider positively if the AP Government requests centres in their State for the convenience of their students. “Admissions would be held in the existing system with 15 per cent unreserved seats open to Andhra Pradesh students,” they said.

The pattern and scheme of the examination will see no change compared to last year and students need not worry, Prof. Ramana Rao said. To a question that AP Government may approach the court questioning the notification, Prof. Papi Reddy said that Telangana was well within its rights to conduct its own test. “We will honour the 85:15 per cent formula in the admission process and AP students will lose nothing,” Prof. Reddy said.

The Eamcet notification for Telangana will be issued on February 25 and the exam will be conducted on May 14 while the results will be declared on May 28. Applications have to be submitted online only and the website will open for submission on February 28.

The last date for submission is April 9. However, forms can be submitted till April 15 with a fine of Rs. 100; till April 22 with Rs 1,000 fine; till May 8 with Rs. 5,000 fine and till May 12 with Rs. 10,000 fine.

Hall-tickets can be downloaded from May 8 to 12. The engineering test will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the medical test from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. The exam fee would be Rs. 250.
