Advocate submits petition

Lawyer J.D. Socrates, who is the founder and president of Social Awareness Movement, petitioned City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan on Tuesday seeking protection for him and for the affected persons for whom he has extended his support.

In the petition, he claimed that he had already petitioned the City Police on February 13 seeking action against a man who cheated many persons to the tune of several lakh rupees by promising to get them loans sanctioned from banks. On Tuesday, he claimed that there was threat to his life from the person against whom he had petitioned the police.
