Writer and political leader P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has been selected for the fifth Chilla Literary Magazine Talent Award for this year.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the Chilla Literary Trust members said that a collection of essays titled Vilakku Kalukal Evide (Where are the lampposts?) written by Mr. Pillai made him eligible for the honour.

The collection comprised 24 articles that were relevant and responding to the contemporary developments in society.

“The ideas were presented in a fluid language, with sufficient clarity of thought,” said Ilayidathu Venugopal, trust chairman and managing editor of the magazine.

Others who had earlier won the award include M.P. Veerendrakumar, Balakrishnan Mangadu, and Tanuja Bhattathiripad.

The award comprising a cash prize of Rs.10,000, a citation, and a plaque will be presented to Mr. Pillai during an award ceremony to be held here in August, the trust members said.
