869 get placement in job fair

Over 2,000 youth throng the meet organised by DRDA

Prakasam District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Velugu office here was a beehive of activity as more than 2,000 unemployed youths, including 500 women, thronged it to attend a job fair on Tuesday.

As many as 20 firms, including Bharti Airtel, Reliance Life Insurance, Tech Mahindra, Eureka Forbes, G4 Security Services, Eenadu, Margadarsi Chit Funds, Kallam Spinning Mills Limited and Jayalakshmi Automobiles, wooed the youth with education qualification ranging from a pass in eighth standard to post-graduation.

Spurred by the good response, TDP MLA from Ongole D. Janardhana Rao, who was instrumental in arranging the event through the DRDA, said more such job melas would be organised periodically in tune with the party’s promise to ensure at least one job for each household. “More and more firms from Hyderabad and other places are looking for candidates with a positive mindset for a variety of jobs,” he added. As many as 869 candidates were provisionally selected during the day-long job fair, DRDA Project Director M.S. Murali said.
