Cops say victims rehearsed video messages several times

Police are trying to find out what the deceased did for the five days between recording videos and committing suicides.

The Oshiwara police’s investigations into the quadruple suicide reported in Lokhandwala last week have revealed that the deceased rehearsed their suicide messages several times before recording a final video from each of them on a cellphone. The police are also looking for a second suicide note, which one of the deceased is seen reading in one of the videos.

The four deceased, a brother-sister duo, their mother and her second husband, were found dead on Friday last week. The siblings hanged themselves in their employer’s residence while their parents hanged themselves in their own house in Andheri. The police later found a suicide note written by the sister as well as video-recorded suicide messages by each of the four deceased on her cellphone.

According to Oshiwara police, five videos were found in the cellphone in which the deceased had practised recording the messages till they got the picture quality and content right.

“The suicide message recorded by the sister matches the content of her suicide note word by word. We also saw that her stepfather was reading from an entirely different note and conducted a second search of his house Tuesday. We did not find the second suicide note,” said an officer.

The police are trying to find out what the deceased did for the five days between recording the videos and committing suicides. “The living room of the siblings’ parents, where the videos were recorded, is empty except for a wooden temple and a wall clock. The kitchen has a fridge which is also empty. The dustbin has been emptied and washed, and there was a stack of newspapers in a corner of the room,” the officer added.

Festive offer

The police have now asked for CCTV recordings of the building to find out who moved the furniture or who visited the couple in this five-day period. The police are also getting call records of the four deceased.

The police believe that the four deceased might also have practised hanging themselves from two hooks in the ceiling of the parents’ flat. However, as the hooks were too close to each other, the siblings might have decided to commit suicide in Tinkusingh’s residence.
