Shop, godown in Mormugao raided

VASCO: The legal metrology department raided a shop and a wholesale godown in Mormugao taluka and seized goods from the two stores on Tuesday afternoon.
The shop, Scoffies, outside the Dabolim airport was raided for selling food items at a high rate. Goods worth 25,000 were seized from the shop. A wholesale godown from Birla called Yallalingeshwar was also raided and 775 rice bags were seized as they had neither a declaration nor company stamp.The date of expiry was also missing. Bags worth 5 lakh were seized. Narvekar said, “These owners will be asked to pay a fine or else the matter will be taken to court.”
