One of the important characters in Dileep’s upcoming movie, Ivan Maryadaraman, is a bicycle. It is protagonist Ramu’s (Dileep) companion and only asset. Interestingly, National Award winner
Suraj Venjaramoodu has lent his voice to the bicycle!
“The bicycle itself is a character in the movie. There are several scenes where Ramu talks to his bicycle and it replies.
It’s the first time that I am dubbing for an inanimate object; I felt it is a terrific idea,” says Suraj.
The bicycle is from Trivandrum and hence it speaks a typical slang, so the makers, we hear, couldn’t think of anyone other than Suraj. However, Suraj says he will not be speaking in pucca Trivandrum slang. “There will be a Trivandrum touch to it, like ‘evide nee ponadai?’ (where are you going?),” says Suraj, adding, “Humans share a special bond with their vehicles. There are some people who consider their vehicles as their lucky charm, and in this movie too, the life of the protagonist is closely associated with the bicycle.”
Meanwhile, Suraj is busy shooting for Siddharth Bharathan’s Dileep-starrer
Chandrettan Evideya. “I am playing Ilayathu, a 55-year-old astrologer. It is a serious character but with a sense a humour,” he signs off.
