Jayaram persuades Rimi to take up a lead role
Anchor and singer Rimi Tomy, who made her acting debut in Anchu Sundarikal, is all set to play the lead role in the upcoming movie Thinkal Muthal Vellivare. The movie spans through the incidents that happen in the life of a serial addict, a scribe and a producer.
Its director Kannan Thamarakulam says, “We were looking for a character like Rimi Tomy — talkative, innocent and bubbly.
We decided to rope her in as her mannerisms will be quite apt for the central character, Pushpavalli. In fact, it was Jayaram who persuaded the singer to take up the project. She was sceptical and nervous; but we convinced her that she could be her natural self in the film.”
About the character, Kannan says, “Pushpavalli is a village belle who is addicted to TV serials. She is a fan of prominent serial scriptwriter Jayadevan Chungathara, the character portrayed by Jayaram. Anoop Menon will play the role of the producer. Her encounter with the scriptwriter and the producer of the serial forms the rest of the plot.”
Rimi, who is still nervous about playing a lead role, says, “Acting is not at all my comfy zone. But everyone trusts me and they scheduled the shooting dates according to my convenience. When I think about acting, it’s the song sequences where you sing and dance amidst paddy fields that come to my mind. Unfortunately, there are no such sequences in this movie,” says Rimi.
So, will we see her taking up more film projects? Rimi says, “My husband Royce gave his nod, but said this should be my last movie. However, if some good roles come my way, I will definitely convince him. For now I have only Pushpavalli on my mind.”
Debutant Sanand George will compose the music for the songs penned by Naadirshah. Many small screen actors will reportedly be a part of the cast. The movie will be shot in Trivandrum, which is touted as the city of mega serials.
