BEO official arrested for taking bribe

Lokayukta officials, on Monday, arrested an official from the Block Education Office, K.R. Puram Division, for taking bribe for holding a seat for a child under Right to Education (RTE).

Based on a complaint by J.R. Jayasheela, the accused Hanumanth Pujari, a Clustrer Resource Officer, was trapped at Bellandur Railway Station on Monday when he had come to receive the bribe amount.

According to the officials, the complainant, Ms. Jayasheela, had applied for a seat for her daughter in Sri Chaitanya Techno School under RTE at K.R. Puram BEO office.

Pujari asked for the caste certificate but also demanded an amount of Rs. 25,000. Pujari had also taken an advance token amount of Rs. 4,000 and asked Ms. Jayasheela to pay the rest of the amount on Monday.

Unable to pay the bribe, Ms. Jayasheela approached the Lokayukta and a team of officials went along with her and trapped him red-handed.
