JAMMU, Feb 23: Rich tributes were paid to the World Ward 15 hero, Jemadar Parkash Singh Chib in a function held at Nud in Akhnoor today.
The function was jointly organised by Managing Committee of Baba Dharam Chand  Kul Devsthan, Nud in association with Jemadar Prakash Singh Chib Memorial Society. It was the 70th death anniversary of  this Victoria Cross winner hero of World Ward-II.
Former minister R S Chib was the chief guest while Brig ( Retd) R S Langeh was guest of honour on the occasion. Jem Parkash Singh Chib was serving in 4/13th Frontier Force Rifles in the Indian Army during world Ward-II and he was conferred this highest gallantry award of that time for the British and Commonwealth forces.
Mr Chib and Brig Langeh recalled the great achievement of the son of the soil and said that youth of the region must take inspiration from this great hero. On this occasion Rs 38000 in cash was distributed as assistance among 38 widows of the area.
Lt Col ( Retd) Sain Dass, Lt Col (Retd) S K Singh and Lt Col Bana Ram were prominent among those present on the occasion.
