Parties stage walkout from council meeting

February 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - Tirupur:

Political parties CPI (M), DMDK, CPI and DMK staged a walkout from the Corporation council meeting here on Monday alleging that the administration did not convene special council meeting despite the outbreak of dengue across the city and resulted in few deaths.

A. Govindaraj of DMDK said the administration was to be blamed for the outbreak of the dengue considering that constructive steps were taken only after the disease started spreading.

“If the administration has been serious, the special council meeting should have been conducted,” he added.

Lack of

manpower

S. Ravichandran of CPI blamed the lack of adequate manpower for not carrying out effective mosquito control measures uniformly across the city.
