HC orders probe into NHRM ‘buying’
PATNA: The Patna high court has ordered a probe into alleged irregularities in the utilization of National Rural Health mission (NRHM) funds.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice L Narasimha Reddy and Justice Vikas Jain passed the order on Monday while hearing a PIL, and asked the principal secretary (health) to submit a probe report to it.
The PIL, filed by one Sudhir Kumar Ojha, has stated primary health centres in the state received NRHM funds but they lack facilities.
It alleged irregularities in purchase of medical instruments and medicines.
HC summons chief secy: The same bench, while hearing another PIL, asked the state chief secretary and principal secretary (education) to appear before the court on March 3, 2015.
Petitioner Lal Bahadur Singh has drawn the court’s attention towards poor condition of technical institutions established by the state government.
He said only one of the seven government engineering colleges is functioning with a regular principal. The same is the scenario in the state’s 18 government polytechnics.
He also claimed 70% to 85% posts of teachers in these technical institutions were lying vacant.
Sex enhancement ads: The same bench while hearing yet another PIL on Monday asked the petitioner to make respondents all those involved in fake advertisements of treatment to enhance sex power. The court gave four weeks’ time to the petitioner in this regard. Petitioner Jadish Singh said such advertisements are fake.
