PATIALA: BJP leadership on Monday come out against alliance partner SAD (Badal) claiming that "ruling party" might intimidate voters in Sanour where candidates of both parties are contesting against each other in 10 wards. As the campaign for local bodies' polls ended on Monday, Sanour became a bone of contention between the alliance partners.
BJP leaders submitted a memorandum to Patiala administration to provide tight security in Sanour on the election day, categorically stating that "Akalis may threaten voters there".

BJP secretary Tarun Chugh, along with entire leadership of Patiala district, camped at Sanour on Monday. Without naming any party, Chugh said, "We apprehend that some elements may use force and cause disruption here on the election day. BJP will demand action against officers who will help such elements. We demand full security arrangements here."
Local BJP leader Ginny Dhillon said contrary to demand of 10 seats, Akali Dal was willing to vacate only two seats for BJP candidates in Sanour. He said, "Hence, the party has decided to contest from 10 of total 14 wards."
No candidate in Sanour is contesting on the symbol of the Congress and contest there is directly between SAD and BJP. Besides Sanour, Rajpura is another town where BJP and SAD candidates are facing each other in two wards. "I will visit Rajpura also on Tuesday to make sure that there is no use of force against our candidates and voters on the polling day," Chugh said.
