Rs 1 lakh stolen from train recovered

The accused, Bantu Saidulu was travelling from Vadodara to Khammam in the same compartment

HYDERABAD: Jogu Sandeep, a train passenger travelling by the Navjeevan Express almost had a heart attack while coming from Anand to Khammam on finding that Rs 1 lakh in cash that he was carrying was stolen. He however returned a happy man, after the RPF swung into action and recovered the stolen money, from a fellow passenger on Monday.

Jogu Sandeep, a resident of Nalgonda district was travelling from Anand to Khammam in the second class general compartment by Navjeevan Ex-press which left Ahmedabad on Sunday. He was carrying Rs 1 lakh with him and alerted the RPF escort party, who were on duty on the train, on noticing the robbery.

The RPF team promptly undertook a search in the compartment and found one co-passenger suspicious. On frisking his belongings they recovered the stolen money. The accused, Bantu Saidulu was travelling from Vadodara to Khammam in the same compartment.

“The RPF personnel including head constables D. Harji, B. Chandrasagar and constables Sreenivas, A. Raj Kumar of Warangal RPF Post and constable Crime Investigation Branch, Kazipet Syed Shabbir Ali, nabbed Bantu. He was detained and handed over to the Government Railway Police, Warangal for legal action,” according to a statement from the RPF.
