JAMMU, Feb 22: Prof Purshotam Sharma, former Head, Depart-ment of Sanskrit, Univ-ersity of Jammu has been awarded with prestigious Emer-itus Fellowship for a period of two years bringing laurels to the Department of Sanskrit in particular and University of Jammu in general.
Prof R D Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu congratulated Prof Sharma and hoped that he will continue to put in best in his chosen sphere of activity.
Prof. Purshotam is very brilliant and reputed in the field of Sanskrit Grammar, Vedas, Jyotish and Sanskrit Literature with 33 years of post-graduate teaching and research experience. He has produced 36 PhDs, 40 M Phils and also has 12 books to his credit.
He has held very responsible academic positions in the University of Jammu such as member board of studies, Chairman Departmental Research Committee and performed these duties to the best satisfaction of the University authorities.
Prof Sharma is the first academician in the Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu to be awarded Professor Emeritus.
